What is hedge?

A strategy or financial instrument used to reduce or manage the risk of price fluctuations, currency changes, or other market uncertainties. Common hedging methods include forward contracts, fixed-price agreements, options, futures, and swaps, which lock in prices or provide compensation if market conditions move unfavorably.
